What is Laughter Yoga?

  • Laughter Yoga is a unique exercise routine which combines ‘simulated’ or self-induced laughter with Yogic breathing (PRANAYAMA).
  • The concept of Laughter Yoga is based on a scientific fact that the body cannot differentiate between ‘fake’ and real laughter.
  • When practiced in a group, the simulated laughter soon turns to genuine laughter.
  • It is the combination of the strong social dynamics of group behavior, eye contact with each other, and the childlike playfulness created by Laughter Yoga that leads to the release of the free-flowing unconditional laughter that is inside each of us.

Walking like a laughing penguin is a great way to start the day!
How It Works
  • Led by a trained and Certified Laughter Yoga Leader the sessions begin with gentle warm-up techniques to help break down inhibitions and to develop feelings of childlike playfulness.
  • Yogic breathing exercises are used to prepare the lungs for laughter, followed by a series of ‘Laughter Exercises’ that combine the method of acting and visualization techniques with playfulness.

  • Laughter makes us feel good, boosts self-confidence and eases our awkwardness.

It’s Universal

Laughter Yoga crosses all barriers:

fun-packed early morning Laughter session!

Ten Good Reasons to Laugh for No Reason
  • Laughter is a stress buster. It reduces the levels of stress hormones epinephrine and cortisol.
  • Laughter strengthens the immune system and helps maintain good health.
  • Laughter is anti-aging. It increases blood supply to the face, nourishing the skin and making it glow.
  • Laughter is an aerobic exercise equivalent to any other standard aerobic exercise.
  • Laughter increases the levels of endorphins, the body’s natural pain killer.
  • Laughter helps control high blood pressure by reducing the release of stress related hormones.
  • Laughter helps dump depression, anxiety and psychosomatic disorders.
  • Laughter Yoga makes us more creative and imaginative. It improves our sense of humor.
  • Laughter shrinks the hurts of everyday life to a smaller, if not inconsequential size. It interrupts the power struggle and diffuses anger by releasing it.
  • Laughter helps individuals be more self-confident and self-expressive.
